PROJECT OVERVIEW:


Complete reconstruction and concrete paving on East North Street in Rapid City, SD from just east of Herman Street to just west of Pine Street. –

Beginning on Tuesday May 28th, 2013 the East North Street project will begin. Construction will begin with the first phase starting on the south side of East North Street from just east of Racine Street to just west of Milwaukee Street. Traffic flow on East North Street will be maintained head-to-head with one lane in each direction through the work zone on the north side of East North Street. Work in this phase is scheduled to take place until August 15, 2013.

WEEKLY PUBLIC MEETING


The public is invited to our weekly meeting to discuss any issues or concerns that they have with the project. This meeting takes place on Wednesday’s at 10:00 AM at the Wendy’s on East North Street near the project



PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUCEMENT


Beginning on September 25, 2013 the East North Street project will move completely into phase three of construction. Phase three will occur concurrently with phase two of the project. Construction will be located on the north side of East North Street through the Lacrosse St. Intersection to just west of Pine Street. East-West traffic will flow head-to-head through the intersection on the south side of East North St. The detour route is shown on the map below. North-South traffic will be detoured around the intersection. Work in this phase is scheduled to take place until November 21st, 2013.



On Monday August 12, 2013 (dependent on weather) the East North Street project in Rapid City, South Dakota will shift into a portion of Phase 2. Construction activities will begin on the north side of E. North Street from just east of Racine Street to Waterloo Street. Traffic will be shifted from its current position in the west bound lanes to the east bound lanes through this section. Construction will continue to occur on Phase 1 from Waterloo Street to Herman Street during this time.

PROJECT UPDATE


Week of September 23:


During the week of September 23rd East North Street was closed through the Lacrosse St intersection on the North side of the street. Mainline concrete paving, curb and gutter, and concrete fillets were poured on the north side of East North Street from Racine Street west. Water main, storm sewer, and grading occurred on the north side of E. North Street. Removals continued throughout the project in multiple locations.

During the week of September 30th through October 4th construction will continue on East North Street with the following items.

• Removals and excavation will occur on the north side of the project.

• Grading, undercut, edge drain, and gravel will be installed on the West end of phase two of the project.

• Water main, storm sewer, and grading will occur on the north side of the project.

• Mainline paving and miscellaneous concrete paving will occur on phase two of the project.



Week of August 30th:


During the week of August 26th mainline concrete paving was finished on East North Street from west of Waterloo Street to the west end of the project limits near Milwaukee Street. Sidewalk and driveway approaches were continued to be poured throughout the project. Water main, storm sewer, and grading occurred on the North Side of the project near Racine Street.

During the week of September 2nd through September 6thth construction will continue on East North Street with the following items.

• Sidewalk and driveway approaches will continue to be poured.

• Water main, storm sewer, and grading will occur on the North side of the project.



Week of August 23rd:


During the week of August 19th mainline concrete paving continued on East North Street from west of Waterloo Street to the west end of the project limits near Milwaukee Street. Curb and gutter was also poured along the project. Preparation continued for mainline paving on East North Street throughout the project. Sidewalk and driveway approaches were continued to be poured throughout the project. Water main, storm sewer, and grading occurred on the North Side of the project near Racine Street.

During the week of August 26th through August 30th construction will continue on East North Street with the following items.

• Mainline concrete paving from east of Waterloo Street to west side of Project limits near Herman Street.

• Sidewalk and driveway approaches will continue to be poured.

• Curb and gutter will continue to be poured.

• Water main, storm sewer, and grading will occur on the North side of the project.



Week of August 16th:


During the week of August 12th mainline concrete paving continued on East North Street from west of Waterloo Street to the west end of the project limits near Milwaukee Street. Curb and gutter was also poured along the project. Preparation continued for mainline paving on East North Street throughout the project. Traffic was shifted to the south side of E. North Street from Lacrosse Street to Waterloo Street. Traffic flow will continue on the north side of E. North Street from Waterloo Street to Herman Street.

During the week of August 19th through August 23rd construction will continue on East North Street with the following items.

• Mainline concrete paving from east of Waterloo Street to west side of Project limits near Herman Street.

• Sidewalk and driveway approaches will continue to be poured.

• Curb and gutter will continue to be poured.

• Water main, storm sewer, and grading will occur on the North side of the project.



Week of August 9th:


During the week of August 5th mainline concrete paving continued on East North Street from east of Racine Street to Waterloo Street. Sidewalk and driveway approaches continued to be poured from Racine Street to Waterloo Street. Preparation continued for mainline paving on East North Street along with paving of a few miscellaneous sections. Asphalt was poured on Racine Street and Waterloo Street.

During the week of August 12th through August 16th construction will continue on East North Street with the following items.

• Traffic shift will occur as discussed on Public Service Announcement.

• Mainline concrete paving from east of Waterloo Street to west of Milwaukee Street.

• Sidewalk and driveway approaches will continue to be poured.

• Curb and gutter will continue to be poured.



Week of August 2nd:


During the week of July 29th mainline concrete paving continued on East North Street from east of Racine Street to Waterloo Street. Sidewalk and driveway approaches continued to be poured from Racine Street to Waterloo Street. Preparation continued for mainline paving on East North Street along with paving of a few miscellaneous sections.

During the week of August 5th through August 9nd construction will continue on East North Street with the following items.

• Mainline concrete paving from east of Waterloo Street to west of Milwaukee Street.

• Sidewalk and driveway approaches will continue to be poured.

• Curb and gutter will continue to be poured.





Week of July 26th:


During the week of July 26th mainline concrete paving began on East North Street from east of Racine Street to just east of Waterloo Street. Curb and gutter continued to be poured along East North Street from west of Waterloo Street to just east of Milwaukee Street. Preparation continued for mainline paving on East North Street along with paving of a few miscellaneous sections.

During the week of July 29nd through August 2nd construction will continue on East North Street with the following items.

• Mainline concrete paving from east of Waterloo Street to west of Milwaukee Street.

• Installation of gravel base from Milwaukee Street heading west.

• Curb and gutter will continue to be poured.



Week of July 19th:


During the week of July 15th Storm Sewer installation was completed on phase 1 of East North Street project in Rapid City, South Dakota. Curb and gutter was poured down East North Street from Racine Street to Waterloo Street. Preparation began for mainline paving on East North Street along with paving a few miscellaneous sections.

During the week of July 22nd through July 26th construction with continue on East North Street with the following items.

• Mainline paving of the driving surface will occur from Racine to west of Waterloo.

• Continue of undercut as well as graveling of street surface.

• Curb and gutter will continue to be poured.

Week of July 12th:


During the week of July 8th Storm Sewer installation continued down East North Street from Waterloo St to Milwaukee Street intersection. Gravel base course continued to be installed down East North Street from the East side of the project to East of Waterloo Street.

During the Week of July 15th through July 19th construction will continue on East North Street with the following items.

• Storm Sewer will continue being installed along the project.

• Gravel base course will continue to be installed on East North Street

• Curb and gutter will be poured on Waterloo Street depending on the weather.

Week of July 5th:


During the week of July 5th water line installation continued on the project. Storm Sewer installation continued down East North Street near Racine to the West of the Waterloo intersection. The gravel base course was placed on Waterloo and will continue to be placed near Racine Street.

During the Week of July 8th through July 12th construction will continue on East North Street with the following items.

• Storm Sewer will continue being installed along the project.

• Gravel base course will continue to be installed near Racine Street.

• Curb and gutter will be poured on Waterloo Street depending on the weather.



Week of June 28th:


The East North Street project located in Rapid City, South Dakota continues to be under construction. During the week of June 28th water line installation continued on the project between Racine St to East of Herman Street. Storm Sewer installation began near Racine Street and will continue down East North Street heading to the West. Concrete sidewalk was poured on the South side of Waterloo Street. Construction on East North Street will continue on Monday July 1, 2013 as conditions allow.



Week of June 21st :


The East North Street project located in Rapid City, South Dakota is currently under construction. During the week of June 21, 2013 concrete removal at the Milwaukee Street intersection on East North Street was completed. Water line installation continued on the project between Racine St and Milwaukee St. and will continue into next week. Unclassified excavation took place between Racine St and Milwaukee St as well and will also continue into next week. Construction on East North Street will continue on Monday June 24, 2013 as conditions allow.



PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUCEMENT


Week of June 17th


On Monday June 17, 2013 access to the Milwaukee Street/E. North Street intersection will be closed to traffic and the traffic signals at that intersection will no longer be in operation. Temporary traffic signals have been erected, and will be in operation, at the intersection of Herman Street and East North Street as part of a detour that will be in place to direct traffic around the construction process. The Milwaukee St. detour route will utilize E. Denver Street, Herman Street, and East Watertown Street.
